The Rant I Was Never Gonna Post.
I’m old enough to know that my particular struggles aren’t particularly special. And I really try to be available for people when they need someone, because to paraphrase the great philosopher Ben Platt sometimes when you need to ebb, it’s nice to have someone else flow. But to paraphrase all flight attendants, gotta secure your own mask before helping others.
If I’m honest I haven’t been terribly able to flow lately. And it is in the spirit of securing my mask first, that I’ve had to make some changes in how I approach life. I don’t claim these changes are ideal, just that, like our mask metaphor, they are required for me to stay conscious and healthy.
And for me to be able to have ANY spiritual energy left for others. As much as I’d LOVE to just say “FUCK IT” to EVERYTHING... I have a job and a family, and would like to keep both.
IMPORTANT MESSAGE

This is my blog. While I acknowledge that it’s a publicly addressable website...
It’s still my blog. I’m gonna have some opinions below. You are welcome to share them, or not. If my having opinions on my blog bothers you... you can leave. There are other blogs. Maybe even better ones.
Ok now that we have THAT out of the way...
The recent Presidential election here in the USA has gutted a large part of the population. I am one of them.
I am dismayed that we handed our country over to a person that:
🔹 Hates anyone without a trust fund and a penis
🔹 Hates anyone who loves someone he wouldn’t
🔹 Hates anyone with a better tan natural or not
🔹 Not so secretly wants to fuck his daughter
🔹 Took kids from parents to put in cages
🔹 Expects women to be baby factories
🔹 Regrets leaving office after losing
🔹 Cares nothing for democracy
🔹 Tried to end our democracy
🔹 OK with his VP being hung
And I hate that we’re giving this person four years to plan for his next coup, and to weaken all the checks that dare try to balance.
I hate that we have to tell our kids to behave better than the Fucking President of the United States of America.
I’m angry. I hate all of this, and I’m a straight, middle class, white dude. I have friends & family who aren’t. They rightly feel under direct threat. When I think of them, I’m even angrier.
A bunch of un-educated (on issues/platforms not talking about schooling) IDIOTS are responsible for this. Equally responsible are a bunch of lazy “democrats” who made excuses instead of voting.
😩... sorry.
The point is... all the effort of staying plugged in and being part of the “educated populace” (again not about school) did nothin’ good for me and millions of others this time around. What it DID do was turn an already overwhelming world into something nearly unbearable.
So I’m unplugging.
I’ll rejoin the educated populace after the next coup attempt is defeated, but my mental health can not afford to engage with the world he wants to make. From now on it’s nothing but gamedev, antidepressants, and anxiety meds for me.

A protest to support.
We’re going to need our energy.
